MP holds fire prevention seminar to enhance fire safety awareness (2026-01-16)

To enhance awareness of fire safety and emergency response capabilities of staff in the event of a fire, the Public Prosecutions Office (MP) invited representatives from the Fire Services Bureau to conduct two fire safety seminars today (16th January). More than 150 staff members, including Prosecutor General Tong Hio Fong and Chief of the Office of the Prosecutor General Wong Hio Nam, attended the seminar.

During the seminar, Vong Veng Tat, Fire District Chief of the Fire Services Bureau, used recent fire incidents in neighboring areas as a starting point to provide an in-depth explanation on the causes of fires and fire safety knowledge. Vong Veng Tat also emphasized that “smoke is more dangerous than fire”, highlighting the importance of keeping smoke control doors closed in daily routines, regularly inspecting fire prevention equipment, testing fire alarm systems on a regular basis, and ensuring that evacuation routes remain unobstructed.

In addition to the seminar, the Fire Services Bureau will later arrange a fire prevention equipment operation drills for MP staff members, to ensure that they are able to master the proper use of fire extinguishing equipment. In the future, MP will continue to strengthen “proactive prevention” safety awareness of all staff, to effectively enhance fire prevention, control, and emergency response capabilities.
