Clarification by Office of the Prosecutor General regarding wage default rumours (2021-11-19)

In response to a recent social media post about a former employee of the Office of the Prosecutor General not receiving her wages, the Office of the Prosecutor General wishes to clarify such false information:

This Office legally terminated the indefinite administrative contract of the ex-employee in mid-February 2021. On 1 March 2021, the cheque for the termination payments, calculated according to the law, was ready and included the salary receivable for the month in which the employment was terminated. We notified the person concerned to collect the cheque and complete the formalities for termination of employment through multiple registered mails with advice of delivery and phone messages; however, the former employee has not yet come to the Office to do so.

As an integral organ of the Public Prosecutions Office, the Office of the Prosecutor General operates in accordance with the principle of legality. While we respect the freedom of expression of the public, we hereby clarify the false information claiming that this Office defaulted on wage payments. We reserve the right to take legal action against individuals who published untruthful statements that damage the reputation of this Office.
