
On 12 June, the Public Prosecutions Office (MP) received 28 trainees from the 2025-2026 “Training Scheme in Common Law” and “Training Scheme in Common Law for Officials from Ministry of Justice organized by the Department of Justice of Hong Kong (HKDOJ). A seminar was held for the trainees on topics including the prosecution system of the Macao SAR.
During the seminar, Prosecutor Pak Wa Ngai gave an introduction on Macao’s criminal legal system and crime statistics, while Prosecutor Wong Heng Ut outlined the duties and power of the MP, as well as criminal proceedings.
Both sides then actively exchanged on topics such as enhancement of effectiveness and practices of the MP in directing criminal investigations, conviction and sentencing in criminal cases, etc.
Attendees from the HKDOJ included Senior Government Counsel Ms. Wu Ka Yan, Grace and Law Clerk Ms. Wong Yan Yan, Yan. The 28 trainee participants included: 4th level Principle Official of the National Commission of Supervision Mr. Zhuang Jietao, Deputy Division Head of the Ministry of Commerce Ms. Zhang Jingyi, 2nd level Principle Official of the Justice Department of Liaoning Province Mr. Tong Yidong, 2nd level Principle Official of the Justice Bureau of Shanghai Municipality Ms. Huang Lanyan, among others. Advisor of the Office of the Prosecutor General Mr. Chan Chi Ieong also participated in the seminar on behalf of MP.
