Prosecutor General Tong Hio Fong meets the newly appointed Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Macao SAR, Bian Lixin (2026-02-13)

The Prosecutor General, Tong Hio Fong, met with the delegation led by the newly appointed Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China in the Macao Special Administrative Region, Bian Lixin today (13 February). The two sides exchanged views on various topics, including services of the Public Prosecutions Office of the Macao Special Administrative Region (MP) and its participation in international and regional prosecutorial organizations.

Tong Hio Fong welcomed Bian Lixin for assuming duty in Macao and expressed his gratitude to the Commission of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Macao SAR for its attention and support to the MP over the years. Since Macao’s Handover to the Motherland, under the great support of the Central Government, the MP has remained steadfast in defending national sovereignty, security and development interests. The MP has also fully discharged its prosecutorial functions in accordance with law, combated and punished all illegal and criminal acts that jeopardized national security. Besides, the MP has devoted itself to safeguarding legitimate rights and interests of members of the public, defending social equity and justice, as well as maintaining long-term prosperity and stability of Macao.

Mr Tong stated that the MP will make every effort to coordinate with the Macao SAR Government’s policy address and uphold the executive-led structure. It will dedicate itself to strengthening connection with both the Chinese Mainland and the rest of the world, fully leveraging its role as a bridge in the prosecutorial field by developing judicial cooperation and professional exchanges with neighbouring regions and Portuguese-speaking countries, thereby contributing to the appropriate economic diversification and development of rule of law in Macao. Mr Tong pledged that the MP will strengthen communication and cooperation with the Commission of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He also wished for continuous support and assistance from the Commission.

Attendees of the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the MSAR at the meeting included Deputy Commissioner, Cheng Lei; Deputy Head of the Department of General Affairs, Ge Mingdong; and 3rd Class Secretary of the Department of General Affairs, Wang Wen. Attendees of the Office of the Prosecutor General included Chief of the Office, Wong Hio Nam; Deputy Chief of the Office, Ng Meng Tai; and Advisor Chan Chi Ieong.
