Hong Kong Director of Public Prosecutions leads delegation to visit MP (2026-02-10)

The Prosecutor General, Mr. Tong Hio Fong, received a five-member delegation led by the Director of Public Prosecutions of the Department of Justice of the Hong Kong SAR, Ms. Maggie Yang Mei-kei today (10 February). The two parties exchanged views on criminal prosecution practices and issues related to combating cross-border crimes such as financial fraud, money laundering, and drug trafficking.

During the meeting, Prosecutor General Tong Hio Fong introduced the structure and operations of the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), the prosecutions system of the Macao SAR, and the Office’s participation in international and regional prosecutorial organizations. He noted that Macao and Hong Kong are both facing common challenges in combating cross-border crimes, and expressed hope for further deepening of cooperation and exchanges, including sharing practical experiences, jointly enhancing judicial efficiency, safeguarding social fairness and justice, and effectively protecting the lawful rights and interests of residents in both regions.

Furthermore, representatives from both parties discussed and exchanged opinions on matters including mutual legal assistance in criminal matters, combating cross-border money laundering, strengthening prosecutorial capabilities through technology, and establishing long-term collaboration mechanisms.

Attendees included Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions of Department of Justice of Hong Kong SAR, Mr. Anthony Chau Tin-hang, Acting Senior Public Prosecutor, Mr. Herman Wan Pui Hin, and Public Prosecutors Ms. Maureen Kong Wa and Mr. Michael Kwong Ka Ho. MP representatives included: Chief of the Office of the Prosecutor General, Ms. Wong Hio Nam, Prosecutor Coordinator, Mr. Lai U Hou, Prosecutors Ms. Lei Sut Man and Mr. Pao In Hang.
