
On September 18, a three-member delegation from the Research Base for Procuratorial Public Interest Litigation of the China University of Political Science and Law visited the Public Prosecutions Office of the Macao SAR (MP). The delegation was introduced to MP’s work in the areas of public interest litigation, civil and criminal matters, and discussed about realization of public interest litigation development with Assistant Prosecutor General Mai Man Ieng and Prosecutor Cheang Weng In of the MP at the meeting.
During the discussion, the two prosecutors elaborated on the basic aspects of Macao’s judicial system, illustrated the organizational structure, functions and competencies of the MP, including those in leading and supervising criminal investigations, protecting civil rights and overseeing the implementation of law. They also introduced the MP’s roles in the three major prosecutorial domains, namely civil, labour and administrative matters. The parties conducted in-depth exchanges on the legal systems and judicial practices of the two regions.
Other attendees at the meeting included Liu Yi, Director of the Research Base for Procuratorial Public Interest Litigation of the China University of Political Science and Law; and Jiang Hua, Assistant Professor of the Faculty of Law at the University of Macau, among others.
