Delegation of the Public Prosecutions Office of East Timor visits Macao

At the invitation of the Public Prosecutions Office of the Macao SAR (MP), Prosecutor General of East Timor, José da Costa Ximenes, led a delegation on an official visit to Macao from 22nd to 25th April 2018.

In the morning on 23rd April, the delegation called on MP and was shown warm hospitality by the Acting Prosecutor General, Ma Iek, and several Prosecutors. The two prosecutorial organs exchanged views on their respective functions, operation, personnel composition, initiatives for combating crimes and mutual legal assistance framework. They also expressed intent to forge closer ties and enhance cooperation. The delegation then visited the Criminal Proceedings Office to learn more about the daily operation of MP.

The delegation also visited Shenzhen municipal prosecutorial agencies of the Guangdong Province between 26th and 27th April under the coordination of MP, the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao SAR and the Supreme People's Procuratorate of the PRC. Through facilitating exchanges between Mainland prosecutorial organs and their counterparts of Portuguese-speaking countries, MP fulfilled Macao's role as a bridge between China and Portuguese-speaking countries.

In addition, the delegation paid visits to the Court of Final Appeal, the Commission against Corruption and the Legal and Judicial Training Centre in Macao to learn more about the city and its judiciary organs from different perspectives.
