Swearing-in Ceremony of Five Prosecutors Coordinators of the MSAR Public Prosecutions Office






 

Presided over by the Chief Executive, Ho Iat Seng, the swearing-in ceremony of five Prosecutors Coordinators of the Public Prosecutions Office (MP) of the Macao Special Administrative Region (MSAR), namely Chong Lao Sin, Ho Man, Leong Weng Si, Cheong Kuok Chi and Sio In Ha took place at 12pm on December 16, 2022. The oath taking procedure was administered by the Prosecutor General, Ip Son Sang.

According to Article 12 of Law No. 10/1999 "Statute of Judicial Officers", as amended by Law No. 4/2019, Judicial Officers of the Public Prosecutions Office are divided into three ranks: Prosecutors, Assistant Prosecutors General and Prosecutor General, among which Prosecutors are further categorized into Prosecutors and Prosecutors Coordinators.

Upon nomination by the Prosecutor General, the Chief Executive promulgated Executive Order No. 46/2022 in Series I, Issue 49, MSAR Government Gazette on December 5, 2022. Chong Lao Sin, Ho Man, Leong Weng Si, Cheong Kuok Chi and Sio In Ha were appointed Prosecutors Coordinators of the MSAR by definitive appointment, effective as of December 16, 2022.

Below are the résumés of the five Prosecutors Coordinators:

  1. Ms. Chong Lao Sin, Prosecutor Coordinator, obtained Bachelor of Chinese and Portuguese Translation and Bachelor of Law conferred by the University of Macau. She formerly served as a police officer of the former Public Security Police Force of the Macau Security Force, and later as Chinese and Portuguese translator of the Macao Public Security Forces Affairs Bureau from 1993 to 2003. Ms. Chong attended the training course and internship for admission of judges and prosecutors from 2002 to 2003. She was appointed Prosecutor of the MSAR on August 27, 2004.
  2. Ms. Ho Man, Prosecutor Coordinator, holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor's degree in Law from the University of Macau and a Master's degree in Law from the Sun Yat-Sen University. Ms. Ho served as an adviser of the former Audit Court from 1995 to 1999. She was an adviser senior technician, Head of the Judicial Affairs Department and Advisor of the Office of the Prosecutor General from 2000 to 2007. From 2007 to 2009, she attended the training course and internship for admission of judges and prosecutors. On September 15, 2009, Ms. Ho was appointed Prosecutor of the MSAR.
  3. Ms. Leong Weng Si, Prosecutor Coordinator, holds a Bachelor's degree in Law from the University of Macau. She worked as a senior instructor at the University of Macau from 2007 to 2009. In 2009, Ms. Leong completed the course for trainee lawyers and passed the lawyer qualifying examination. She took the training course and internship for admission of judges and prosecutors from 2009 to 2011. Ms. Leong was appointed Prosecutor of the MSAR on September 8, 2011, and later appointed Chairman of the Refugee Committee on April 7, 2022.
  4. Mr. Cheong Kuok Chi, Prosecutor Coordinator, holds a Bachelor's degree in Law from the University of Macau and started serving as a senior technician at the Pension Fund since 2009. He attended the training course and internship for admission of judges and prosecutors from 2009 to 2011. Mr. Cheong was appointed Prosecutor of MSAR on September 8, 2011.
  5. Ms. Sio In Ha, Prosecutor Coordinator, holds a Bachelor's degree in Law and a Master's degree in Law from the University of Macau. She taught at the University of Macau as a Senior Instructor from 2007 to 2009. Ms. Sio then participated in the training course and internship for admission of judges and prosecutors from 2009 to 2011. She was appointed Prosecutor of the MSAR on September 8, 2011.
