Legal status
According to the Basic Law of the Macao Special Administrative Region and the Organic Law on Judicial Organization, the judiciary of Macao consists of two independent organs, namely the Courts which exercise judicial powers and the Public Prosecutions Office (MP) which exercises prosecutorial powers.
Article 90(1) of the Basic Law stipulates that “The Public Prosecutions Office shall exercise prosecutorial functions as vested by law, independently and free from any interference.”
