The 57th International Association of Prosecutors (IAP) Executive Committee Meeting held in Macao

The 57th International Association of Prosecutors (IAP) Executive Committee Meeting was successfully held in Macao on 17 to 19 April 2024. Twenty-five representatives of prosecution authorities from countries or regions around the world attended the conference. Mr. Tong Jianming, First Deputy Prosecutor General of the Supreme People's Procuratorate, participated in the conference in his capacity as Vice-President of the IAP.

During the meeting, the IAP executives were received by the Chief Executive.

“The International Association of Prosecutors” (IAP) is a world wide association of prosecutors, which is dedicated promoting standards of professional conduct and ethics among prosecutors worldwide, as well as strengthening international judicial cooperation in combating crime. Currently, more than 170 national and regional prosecution services and prosecutors' organizations, as well as numerous prosecutors, are members of the IAP. The Executive Committee of the IAP is the executive body of the Association and consists of 10 to 30 representatives of prosecution organizations from around the world, elected by the Association, who are responsible for managing and overseeing the operation of the Association and related matters. In September 2022, the Prosecutor General of the Public Prosecutions Office of Macao SAR, Mr. Ip Son Sang was elected as an IAP Executive Committee.

The successful holding of the IAP Executive Committee Meeting in Macao is a sign of deepening cooperation between the Public Prosecutions Office of Macao SAR and the IAP. In the future, the Public Prosecutions Office will strive to strengthen practical cooperation in the field of mutual legal assistance in criminal matters involving foreign countries through multi-channel exchanges, so as to build a network on the prevention and combat of transnational crimes, and to safeguard the construction of the rule of law in the Macao SAR through prosecutorial and judicial interventions.
