HKSAR DoJ Delegation Visits MP

On 29 November 2023, Secretary for Justice of the Hong Kong SAR Government, Mr. Lam Ting-kwok, led a 12-person delegation to visit the Public Prosecutions Office (MP). Among the Department of Justice (DoJ) delegation are the Director of Public Prosecutions, Ms. Yang Mei-kei, and the Law Officer (International Law), Mr. Ding Kwok-wing.

The DoJ delegation was warmly received by the Prosecutor General, Mr. Ip Son Sang, who affirmed enhanced liaison between both parties to jointly promote mutual support and co-operation efficacy regarding the judicial work in criminal matters between the two places. Secretary Lam expected this visit to further deepen exchanges and liaison mechanisms in criminal prosecutions and regional legal assistance between two sides, and enhance co-operation between Hong Kong and Macao in matters relating to international prosecutorial associations.

During the meeting, MP representatives gave DoJ visitors a comprehensive overview of MP’s legal status, powers and operations, as well as its progress and achievements in building the IT infrastructure for prosecutorial work in recent years. They also exchanged views and discussed on the application and development of information technology in their judicial work and in the fight against cybercrime, as well as the practices and working mechanisms on legal assistance between both sides, expressing a shared desire to further enhance mutual exchanges and co-operation.

MP personnel attending the exchange activity include Assistant Prosecutors General Mai Man Ieng and Kok Sio Peng, Prosecutors Coordinators Kuok Kin Hong and Leong Weng Si, along with the Chief of Office of the Prosecutor General, Tam Peng Tong, Deputy Chief of Office, Wu Kit I, and Advisor of Office, Ng Meng Tai.
