Deputy Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao Special Administrative Region (LO), Huang Liuquan, and other LO representatives visited the Public Prosecutions Office (MP) lately. Prosecutor General, Ip Son Sang, introduced MP’s organization, functions and duties, development roadmap, user-friendly measures, and other operation arrangements to the guests. During the visit, Mr. Huang and guests learnt more about daily operation of MP’s Criminal Proceedings Office, major facilities and a raft of user-friendly judicial services launched over the past few years.
During the meeting, Prosecutor General, Ip Son Sang and three Assistant Prosecutors General presented MP’s statutory roles, including representing the SAR, leading criminal investigation, implementing criminal proceedings and defending legality. They also gave details on how prosecutors of various ranks participated in criminal cases, civil cases, family cases, cases involving minors, labour cases and administrative cases at the Court of Final Appeal, the Court of Second Instance, the Primary Court and the Administrative Court. It is emphasized that MP performs its duties under the law, defends public interests of the SAR and legal interests of the general public, safeguards legality and justice. Prosecutor General expressed gratitude to the Liaison Office for their support in promoting exchanges and cooperation between MP and Mainland prosecutorial agencies, which played an essential role in boosting national identity of the prosecutors, and enhancing work performance and efficiency, expediting informatization of case file management in MP in particular.
Deputy Director, Mr. Huang, extended festive greetings to prosecutors and MP staff members. During the exchanges, Mr. Huang, acknowledged that, by visiting MP and conducting meetings with MP representatives, LO members had learnt more and better about MP’s participation in proceedings and user-friendly judicial practices adopted in recent years. Mr. Huang believed that the next decade will be key to achieving national modernization, during which MP will play an indispensable and crucial role in defending legal justice and social justice. He hopes that MP will continue to discharge prosecutorial duties vested in the Basic Law of the Macao Special Administrative Region and the Organic Law on Judicial Organization, implementing the “one country, two systems” policy in a comprehensive and precise manner, staunchly fulfilling its role as the legal guardian of the SAR, which laid a solid judicial foundation for MSAR’s integration into the national development plan and construction of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin.
Other Liaison Office representatives include Deputy Director-General of the Community Liaison Department (Legal Affairs Department), Wang Heng, Second Inspector, Huang Wenjun, Division Head, Gao Zhen, and Secretary Yu Yonghui. On MP’s side, Assistant Prosecutors General, Ma Iek, Vong Vai Va and Mai Man Ieng, Head of Office, Tam Peng Tong, and Deputy Head of Office, Wu Kit I, also took part in the meeting.
