“The Sixth National Studies Tour for Macao Prosecutors” was held successfully in Gansu Province of PRC between 28 July and 5 August 2016. Participants visited the People’s Procuratorate of the Gansu Province (Gansu People’s Procuratorate) and the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre, and travelled to Lanzhou, Zhangye and Dunhuang Cities. Through seminars and exchanges, Prosecutors learnt more about status quo of the Chinese Mainland, development of north western provinces and national judicial reform in particular.

Mr Ip Son Sang, the prosecutor general of Macao, MP magistrates and administrative staff paid a visit to the Gansu People’s Procuratorate. They explored operation of prosecutorial services in Gansu and Macao and judicial reform with Mr Lu Zhiqiang, the chief prosecutor of Gansu, Mr Guo Xingwang, the director of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the Supreme People’s Procuratorate and judicial staff of the Gansu People’s Procuratorate. The host shared informatization experience and effectiveness of citizen-friendly measures with MP. Electronic case management system was also demonstrated and introduced to MP delegates at the local Case Management Centre to help them understand case management workflow and file management there.

Two seminars featuring “Implementation of the ‘Belt and Road’ National Strategy” and “Current Situation of Gansu Province” respectively were organized for the participants. The former mainly introduced major reasons for formulating the “Belt and Road Initiative” and its impact on future development of the Chinese Mainland, while the latter expounded on Gansu’s cultural, historical and geographical aspects, its social and economic development, and its strategic role in the 13th Five-Year Plan.

This fruitful tour not only allowed participants to acquire better understanding of judicial reform and development in the Chinese Mainland, but would also facilitate exchanges between prosecutorial organs of Macao and Gansu Province.
