A five-people delegation led by Ms Joana Marques Vidal, the prosecutor general of the Republic of Portugal paid an official visit to Macao upon invitation of the Macao Public Prosecutions Office (MP).
On 18 April 2016, the delegation arrived at MP. Sincere and in-depth discussions were then conducted between the delegates, Mr Ip Son Sang, the prosecutor general of Macao and MP magistrates on such matters as judicial regimes of Portugal and Macao, operation of their respective prosecutorial services, trainings for prosecutors, etc. They also intended to strengthen links and cooperation between the two agencies.
The delegation would visit the Legal and Judicial Training Centre and courts of all levels in Macao, as well as meet with President of the Macao Court of Final Appeal and Secretary for Administration and Justice of Macao on 19 April 2016. On 20 April, the delegation would accept invitation of the Supreme People’s Procuratorate and depart for Beijing for the remaining schedule of this official visit.
Mr Ip believed that the present visit would serve to bring forward cooperation and communication between prosecutorial institutions in Portugal and Macao.
