To promote communication and cooperation in the legal field between the Macao SAR and the Chinese Mainland, Prosecutor General Ip Son Sang of the Macao SAR headed a MP delegation and made a work visit to Beijing between 22nd and 25th April 2015. MP delegates paid visits to the Supreme People’s Procuratorate (SPP), the Supreme People’s Court (SPC), the National People's Congress (NPC) Law Committee, the Ministry of Public Security (MPS), the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council and the Evidence Identification Center under the MPS. In the capital, the delegation was warmly received by the Prosecutor General of the SPP Cao Jianming, President of the SPC Zhou Qiang, Vice-Chairman of the NPC Law Committee Su Zelin, Deputy Director of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council Feng Wei, Deputy Minister of Public Security Chen Zhimin, amongst other officials.

Under the principle of “one country, two systems”, the Macao SAR and the Chinese Mainland are two separate jurisdictions. Notwithstanding the different legal systems being implemented, the SAR and the Motherland maintain sound cooperation in combating criminal activities and safeguarding social stability due to the prerequisite of the “one country” principle, geographical connection and close ties in every facet of life. To further strengthen communication and cooperation with the Mainland, in particular, with the various central judicial organs, the MP delegation visited the SPP, the SPC, the NPC Law Committee, the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council and the MPS, amongst other entities. They introduced MP’s current operation and direction for future development, as well as demonstrated MP’s intention to strengthen cooperation with Mainland judicial organs. Meanwhile, the central entities showed great interest in MP’s organization and operation model. They also attached great importance to and fully supported the work of MP.
