Welcome to the website of the Public Prosecutions Office (MP) of the Macao Special Administrative Region (MSAR).
Established pursuant to the Basic Law of the Macao Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China and the Organic Law of Judiciary, the MP is the sole judiciary organ that exercises prosecutorial functions vested by law. The MP enjoys autonomy, discharges functions and duties independently and is free from interference by any authorities, groups or individuals. Under the executive-led political system, the MP undertakes key duties of safeguarding the rule of law, presiding over criminal investigation, overseeing justice in proceedings, defending public interest and overall interest of the society, among others.
Judicial credibility is the cornerstone of a society governed by the rule of law. The MP will actively align with the overall deployment of the Central and MSAR Governments, firmly uphold the executive-led system, and staunchly abide by the mottos of objectivity, impartiality, integrity and efficiency. The MP will also adhere to prosecution for the people, and serve its prosecutorial duty as the guardian of law in a pragmatic, proactive and devoted manner. Thus, the MP will continue to foster judicial credibility, as well as contribute its prosecutorial power to the steady and sustained development of “One County, Two Systems” in the MSAR, maintain national security, long-term prosperity and stability of the MSAR.
