The Office of the Prosecutor General operates directly under the Prosecutor General, performing independent functions and enjoying administrative and financial autonomy. It is responsible for providing technical and administrative assistance to the Prosecutor General, which mainly include:
- Providing legal and professional technical support to judicial assistance, and acting as the central authority in handling mutual legal assistance cases;
- Analyzing and examining information and intelligence related to crime prevention and detection;
- Receiving criminal reports, work enquiries and complaints;
- Assigning representatives to attend tender opening sessions for public procurement of public entities in accordance with the law;
- Conducting external exchanges and coordinating community relations;
- Carrying out legal publicity and promotion related to the work of MP;
- Promoting digitalization of prosecutorial services and providing information technology support;
- Providing professional legal advice under the purview of the MP on the MSAR Government’s draft legislations;
- Providing professional technical assistance in legal research and consultation, translation and other matters;
- Managing finance, assets and personnel;
- Managing various facilities and equipment.
